Questions
Is it finished?
No. It is in beta. It is working extremely well every day, and there is still work to go, especially on tidying a few busy screens and trimming clicks.
Do I need to know networking?
No. That is the whole point. Pages explain themselves in plain words, and the safe defaults are chosen for you. If you do know networking, nothing is hidden from you.
Can I lock myself out?
It is very hard to. Changes wait for your confirmation, the old settings come back by themselves if you don't confirm within 60 seconds, built-in rules keep your access, and there is a recovery screen on the machine.
What does it replace?
Your router's firewall, DNS and DHCP. You still need your modem and, if you want Wi-Fi, a separate access point.
Does it send my data anywhere?
The console runs on your own device. Your settings and logs stay on it. The one lookup that leaves is the optional place search on the map, which sends only the words you type, only when you press Find.
Does threat watching block things?
Not yet. It watches and tells you in plain words and never holds up your traffic. Blocking stays off until watching has proved itself on real traffic.
What about Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi isn't included. Use a separate access point connected to a wired port.
What are the three clicks?
It is the goal for everyday jobs, such as pausing a device or keeping its address. Most already meet it, and the rest are being worked on. See the Simple by design page for the honest list.
