Gatehouse
Runs on

Big computers. Tiny boxes. Same Gatehouse.

Gatehouse is a single small program on a lean Linux system, so it doesn't need much.

💻

x86 computers

Currently being tested on ordinary x86 computers, the kind you might already have spare, with two or more network ports.

📦

Console-only devices

Currently being tested on small devices with no screen or keyboard, managed entirely from a web browser.

🌐

Any web browser

The console runs in the browser on your computer, tablet or phone. Nothing to install on your devices.

What it is made of

A single program on Debian 13, using the system's own nftables firewall. The console is a modern web app that is built into the program, so there is only one thing to install and update.

What it doesn't do

Wi-Fi is not included: there are no Wi-Fi drivers on the installer, so use a separate access point. Gatehouse handles the wired side of your network.

Beta. It is working extremely well on the hardware above, and it is still being tested on more. If your hardware is unusual, treat the first run as an experiment and keep your old router handy.

The Overview shows everything that needs you, live speeds across your connections, and the health of DNS, DHCP and protection, all on one screen.
